I obtained a Bachelor of Education degree in Foundation Phase at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth. I have also completed a 120-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language Course at the International TEFL Life Organisation.
I have three years of experience in a classroom where I have taught a variety of lessons in the subjects, English Home Language, English First Additional Language, Afrikaans Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics and Life Orientation in grade R (4 years – 6 years), grade 1, 2 and 3.
My teaching styles includes learning through listening and following directions. I impart information to the students via demonstrations, role play, audio and visual presentations. I always implement self-made props into my lessons to make it interesting for the students.
I promote learning through interaction where I encourage critical thinking and discussions by asking the students questions.
My main goal for every lesson is to encourage students to participate and to make the lessons as interesting as possible to keep them active, and to focus on the information that has been taught. If a student struggle to process the information, it is my duty to help them until they understand the content of work.
